Forget New Years, Make Resolutions Any Time You Need To

Happy New Year to everyone! As the calendar pages get torn off and the end of the year nears, many people start planning to turn the page to the new year: vacations during winter break, planning holiday/new year’s parties, thinking about new year’s resolutions. It is the last item that deserves more careful consideration, specifically with resolutions revolving around finances. Many people make financial health a big part of their resolutions–pay off debt, contribute more to a retirement plan, increasing savings, etc. With money and finances being such an important aspect of everyday life, maybe it is time to think about your money in just that way: every day.

Worry About Money Not Your “Image”

Get your head out of your ass, you can’t afford that!!! Haven’t you ever wanted to just grab someone by the shoulders and shake them like a rag doll while screaming that phrase in their face? I know I have…plenty of times, and even more often lately. Whether it’s a family member, friend, co-worker, client or whoever, there has to have been at least one or two times where someone just blew your mind with their thoughtless, reckless, or even ignorant attitude toward spending. Forget about failing to budget, or the fact that they use a credit card instead of cash, I’m talking about the person who is months behind on their bills yet continue to spend on “frivolous” things like they have and endless supply of money (with frivolous being a subjective term of course).Keep going…

Stop Being A Follower And Start Thinking For Yourself

Blogs, newspapers, television, magazines, your spouse’s mother’s college roommate’s second cousin’s husband. There are an abundance of “sources” of news, information, and advice about money, technology, health or any other subject under the sun. Some are just looking for attention by attaching themselves to a hot-button topic. Some are reliable. Some are just hokum. What many lack, however is a sense of reality. The reality that what they say, no matter the intention, is almost certainly not going to be applicable to everyone who reads it. Advice about money issues and any of those other topics has no meaning without context. Without context, you in no way should take any information as being meant for you. But why?
