Times are tough. The stock market appears to be regressing on an almost daily basis. Oil prices continue to hover near all-time highs. Foreclosures and job cuts are still haven’t fallen much. Talks of recession are an almost daily occurrence. You start to notice that while your expenses are increasing, your paychecks (if you are lucky) are staying the same and bills are starting to mount. Do you seek help now in the hopes of avoiding financial disaster, or do you wait until the phone starts ringing off the hook with people looking to collect their money, or do you do nothing at all?

The topic of website advertising is a fairly contentious one. Site owners/operators use advertising as a way to bring in additional income, while many visitors view advertising as wasted space and an annoyance. I vaguely recall reading a comment on one blog where the respondent was of the opinion that the only reason people link to their own blog when leaving comments was to get people to click through the ads. Obviously, there is a big disconnect here, but what many people do not realize is that ads can benefit them just as much, and maybe even more than the site owner who is hosting the ads.

This Christmas the team’s coming together for Diomi and her son Nallee, who are going into the cold Milwaukee winter with very little food, clothes, and other necessities. Diomi has been through so much, including the loss of her father, the loss of her job, and clinical depression. But even through the pain you can see all the love she has for Nallee, who has one of the most beautiful personalities you’ll find. 
It is an unfortunate and sad reality that most people do not like to think for themselves if even at all. That is why television reality programs and entertainment news shows and television itself for that matter are so popular: it gives people a break from thinking about their own lives and gives them the opportunity to watch others live their lives. The same attitude has moved into the investing practices of many individuals as well.

Around this time of year, besides the talk of holidays, a main concern is the upcoming tax season. This is the time when people (like me) start writing about tips for getting organized and taking those last-minute actions to improve your tax position. Many people advise about what you should do with investments, making an extra mortgage payment, donating to charity, etc. There are however two tips that go virtually ignored in many of these advice columns: using medical expenses and college tuition to your advantage.

Now that Thanksgiving has passed, everyone is turning their attention to their Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping with an eye toward the upcoming holiday season.
