What DollarVersity is and what will you get from it

Thanks for your interest in DollarVersity! What can you expect from this particular blog? Well, you can expect to find articles on topics such as taxes, entrepreneurship, credit, debt management, personal and business finances, and a variety of other financial and business related issues. More than that, the blog’s goal is to inform, teach, and hopefully entertain you as well. 

 

The theme of the blog is to provide “A distinctive voice standing out from the crowd”. What that means is that you will notice a more rebellious and challenging tone to many of the articles. This is because so many writers out there talk about the same topics in the same way, and so many people take everything that they read and hear at face value without thinking for themselves. The articles here are meant to take take common social and financial issues and challenge those norms, getting people to question things and think for themselves.

 

You will hear me talk about personal experiences (both good and bad), share anecdotes about the people I have come in contact with (while changing the names to protect the innocent), promote the people and businesses which I feel provide value, challenge theories and people, and generally try to be a valuable resource.

 

What you won’t get here is fluff, anything relating to religion, cheap living, or any product/service if I don’t believe in it (other than to explain why and point out the flaws).

My professional and educational backgrounds are both in accounting, and I have a genuine passion for listening to others tell their stories and assisting others. I live for today with an eye toward tomorrow. What that means is that I do not deprive myself of the things which I derive pleasure from and that make me happy for the sake of saving every penny, since tomorrow is not guaranteed. I do, however, make it a point to plan for, and be prepared for the future. I’m just a guy who doesn’t like to follow the crowd: I don’t give a crap about what the Jones family is doing, I have no interest in celebrity fanfare or the gossip surrounding them that so many people seem to be infatuated with, and I have a high disdain for reality television (I would prefer living my own life to watching others live theirs). I’m by no means perfect, never claim to be, and always looking to learn more in order to become a better businessman, advisor, and person.
